WHAT WE DO
Education & Workforce Readiness
Supporting Educators to Build an Equitable Digital Workforce
In order to strengthen education systems and develop an effective future workforce, DG helps policymakers, administrators, and researchers identify trends and develop actionable solutions. To support streamlined systems, we focus on improving data utility and interoperability through targeted technical input and field assistance. Our digital tools make education data easier to access, analyze, visualize, and share, so it can more reliably inform decisions at every level of the education system.
AI READINESS IN HIGHER EDUCATION
AI adoption is not just about the technology itself – it is also a human and governance challenge. While interest and investment in AI are increasing, many higher education institutions continue to face challenges in translating ambition into meaningful institutional adoption. Our work on AI adoption in higher education shows that some of the primary hurdles include leadership, training, funding, and institutional trust.
Through our joint initiative with IREX, we support the higher education and vocational institutions of the future, nurturing the digital workforce required for the future economy by strengthening the digital and data systems used and the digital skills taught. Our joint efforts in supporting educational institutions and educators in the effective, ethical use of AI will help drive improved learning outcomes and increased equity for children and emerging workers globally.
FEATURED PROGRAMS
To holistically understand the barriers to more effective data accessibility, sharing, and use, DG – together with education sector experts from IREX – mapped the education data and decision ecosystems in Kenya and Senegal, focusing on primary and secondary education. By gathering in-depth information on barriers around the use of education data, DG helped lay the groundwork for targeted interventions that, ultimately, will create robust education data ecosystems and better learning outcomes in Kenya and Senegal.
ASAS/Early Grade Education Activity Program
Global education is at a crossroads, and early grade education is critical to reverse these trends – an area where Jordan has made important progress in recent years. Building on this progress, IREX, Development Gateway, and other consortium partners are supporting the Jordanian education ecosystem through the Early Grade Education Activity, also known as Asas (‘foundation’ in Arabic). Funded by the U.S. Embassy in Amman, the activity aims to strengthen pre- and in-service teacher education while improving Kindergarten to Grade 3 foundational literacy, numeracy, and socio-emotional skills across the country.
