WHAT WE DO

Public Financial Management

Helping Ensure Transparency and Efficiency of Public Funds

As countries rely more exclusively on domestic resources and digital sovereignty, we support partners with a domestic focus on transparency, efficiency, and equity of public financial management systems, i.e., the collection, allocation, and accounting of public funds.

To do this, DG works with governments to build sustainable, user-friendly data systems that support evidence-based decision-making. Through efforts in anticorruption, fiscal transparency, and extractives, we develop tools that make data more accessible and usable, empowering institutions and communities to strengthen accountability, improve public financial management, and better understand the impacts of natural resource use.

FEATURED PROGRAMS

Aid Management, a flagship DG offering

Through the Aid Management Program (AMP), DG is the leading global provider of Aid Information Management Systems (AIMS). AMP offers centralized access to projects and related information, helping governments and development partners gather, access, and monitor information on development activities, with the overarching goal of increasing aid effectiveness.

The system allows for financial flow planning and reconciliation, project tracking, and document management. Since 2022, DG has implemented the Global Programme Digital Transformation with GIZ, and is building a Climate Data Information Platform based on the proven AMP technology. CDIP consolidates climate finance data, tracks key performance indicators against national targets, and supports long-term climate resilience planning.

Open Contracting and Public Procurement: Reducing Corruption & Increasing Transparency

Each year, governments spend trillions of dollars on public procurement of goods and services. DG creates tools and services aimed at helping governments and citizens leverage public procurement data to improve service delivery. At the core of our approach lies our Open Contracting (OC) Explorer, an open-source tool for storing, disclosing, and analyzing procurement data. We take data directly from government sources and convert and publish the data in the Open Contracting Data Standard (OCDS), allowing it to be viewed through a suite of interactive tools for data visualization and in-depth analytics.

Extractives: Ensuring a country’s natural resources actually benefit citizens

Greater openness around natural resource management builds public engagement and accountability. DG aims to make extractives data compelling, interactive, and seamless – to enable technical and non-technical users alike to understand the impacts of extractive activities on communities and to increase data use in decision-making.
